Previously recognized as the Annual MACC Statewide Cultural Competence Conference, the 2019 Ohio Cultural Competence Conference (OCCC) will be hosted at the Ohio Union on the campus of The Ohio State University on November 1st. Over 300 national and state level community advocates, faith leaders, public officials, students, researchers, and health providers will convene during the conference to compare best practices in the reduction of health disparities, implementation of cultural competence, and fight against institutional racism.
This one-day conference will host multiple workshops, a plenary panel and our featured Keynote - Yusef Salaam, the Exonerated Five.
Mirroring our tagline, the 2019 OCCC will seek to engage, educate and empower all attendees over the following topics:
Cultural Humility Across Substance Use Prevention, Treatment and Recovery
Interfaith Engagement Across Systems
Demographic Research and Data Collection to Inform Policies and Programs
The Intersection of Cultural Competence and Artificial Intelligence
Comprehensive Support of Diversity and Inclusion Staff
