Prevention Coordinator

Job Summary:
Responsible for creating programs which support the areas of mental health and substance abuse.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs to promote a safe and positive environment to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of the community by reducing risk factors and bolstering protective factors. Encourages and promotes a supportive environment for both low and high-risk community members to address barriers to health.
About The Organization:
Multiethnic Advocates for Cultural Competence (MACC) is a statewide organization committed to transforming systems through implementing and sustaining concepts related to cultural competence.
MACC is a clearinghouse for training, resources, research, best practices, and collaboration.
MACC serves the state of Ohio as a non-profit leader identifying barriers and offering and implementing solutions to healthcare access, employment, and equity in all sectors.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

Planning and implementing programs:
-
Develops, plans, and evaluate programs that address mental health, substance use, and other issues
-
Coordinates the implementation and evaluation of prevention project strategies as laid out by the approved grant proposals
2. Collaborating with others:
-
Work with partner organizations and stakeholders to develop programs, provide training, and build relationships
-
Adheres to the principles of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service
-
Administration's (SAMHSA) Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and Department of Public Health's Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) standards throughout grant implementation while working with others.

Participates in regional coalitions and workgroups.
3. Providing technical assistance:

Provide technical assistance and consultation to schools, organizations, and business groups
4. Managing budgets:
-
Manages project budget and reviews funding proposals
-
Manages the monitoring process for grant-funded projects administered by the Grants Administrator. Ensures that site visits, annual monitoring visits, reporting requirements and all other monitoring regulatory requirements are met.
5. Providing outreach:

Provide outreach and contributing to communication strategies to community
6. Supporting staff
-
Provide support to staff, including training and development
7. Maintaining contact:
-
Maintain contact with federal, state, and local agencies and organizations
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of a B.S. or B.A. degree in public health, social work or related field, or related experience
-
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in community and/or substance use prevention preferred.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility and independent manner and with internal/external teams.
-
Proven track record of ability to connect and work with community partners.
-
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
-
Ability to compile data and support preparation of comprehensive grant reports and support other entities in preparing.
-
Experience in social media and event promotions.
-
Proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Knowledge of regional resources for substance use prevention and mental health access.

This position may require occasional evening or weekend work for program events.

Flexibility to travel for program-related activities may be necessary.

Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Trainer
Job Summary:
MACC outreach is expanding—and we’re looking for mission-aligned professionals to grow with us. As we continue to advance equity and inclusion in Ohio’s mental and behavioral health systems, we’re seeking Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and trainers with hands-on experience, deep subject knowledge, and a strong commitment to culturally responsive care.
We are especially interested in candidates with lived experience and a passion for serving historically marginalized communities, including immigrant and refugee populations, minority youth, older adults, veterans, and people with disabilities.
